The Fixx, in their song One Thing Leads to Another, used the following lyrics: \u201cDo what you say, say what you mean\u201d, something that we too often assume is a concern for our immature children or perhaps for certain foreign cultures where a tolerance for ambiguity is more readily accepted.\u00a0 However, when it comes to theology, Americans are just as guilty and maybe even more guilty of this same tolerance and contradiction.\u00a0 If we truly are trying to understand God and \u201cworship\u201d Him faithfully through our actions, this ambiguity and contradiction should be unacceptable.\u00a0 The content of our theology is of course important, undoubtedly the top priority.\u00a0 However, if we say one thing and truly believe another, or if we believe something but don\u2019t act in accordance with our beliefs, the content of our theology means absolutely nothing.\u00a0 \u00a0And, what kind of confused theology are we communicating to our children?\u00a0 There are no brownie points for theological belief or \u201cfaith\u201d in Religious Deism and to some extent many Christian religions teach that faith goes hand in hand with action, although we would argue not to the same extent that Religious Deism does.\u00a0 So, in general and to avoid what one might call a \u201csin of omission\u201d, everyone should make sure that they believe what they say and that their actions remain consistent with these beliefs, and honestly try to act on them and avoid a regular adherence to the classic, hollow, moral relativist phrase \u201cI am so busy I don\u2019t have time to do what I want to do or what I know is right\u201d. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
