Founding Fathers & Religious Deism

While most Christians believe that the first five Presidents of the US were not only Christians but conservative Christians, nothing could be farther from the truth. The first five Presidents were self-professed Christians and did attending Christian services. However, this was a time when any serious politician had to be a practicing Christian, a time when deism was looked at as almost a form of atheism. However, if one analyzes the actions, writings, speeches, and comments of these five important men, perhaps the most enlightened men in America┬┤s early history, it is evident that they agreed with many of the tenets of traditional deism.
