Religious Deism vs classical deism

Religious Deism vs classical deism

What are the differences between Religious Diesm and modern deism? This issue is addressed in the website in the section entitled “Religious Deism, definitely religious but different from modern secular deism” as well as in our comparative section in the drop down menu at the top of the front page of the website.

In brief, there is one, key, fundamental difference. Religious Deists use reason to cement their unquestionable belief in the afterlife and interaction with God in the next life. Meanwhile, modern deism hopes for the afterlife and interaction with God but does not insist that either are a given. This difference may seem slight but it is incredibly important and differentiating. If modern deism does not believe without a doubt that there is an afterlife and that we will one day interact with God, then for all intents and purposes, modern deists are de facto atheists or at least can be challenged on this point.

For more information on these differences, please check out the above mentioned article and the comparative religious section on the front page of the website.
